For more than thirty years Daniel W. Santos has been creating fine furniture. Dan personally undertakes all aspects of the furniture-making process, from initial client contact, through design, construction, and finishing. His 1,200 square foot studio, adjacent to his home, is located on Cape Cod, Massachusetts. All of his work is built to order and designed specifically for each client’s particular needs and desires. For as long as Dan has been making furniture he has been restoring antique furniture and woodenware. He works regularly with local and nationally-known antique dealers, historical societies, and individuals. He has also lectured extensively on period furniture construction and antiques, including at the prestigious Winterthur Museum in Wilmington, Delaware.
Dan studied architecture and engineering in college and is a graduate of the University of Rhode Island. He is a Registered Professional Civil Engineer. He works with wood and antiques as a means of personal fulfillment and self expression.
Dan has been featured in the Cape Cod Times, The Register newspaper, Cape Cod Life Magazine, Cape Cod and Islands Home, Cape Cod Artisan’s Sourcebook, on Boston’s Channel 5 news magazine Chronicle. He has also been highlighted and acknowledged in several books on furniture making and antique furniture.
Dan has studied woodcarving with European master carver Dimitrios Klitsas, Windsor chair-making with Mike Dunbar at The Windsor Institute and furniture-making at the renowned North Benett Street School in Boston.
